Covered in the Environment Canada forecast includes many communities located within the Peace Country.

In a news release, forecasters say that thunderstorms could fall as early as this afternoon, and go right into the evening, with some of them potentially becoming severe.

Heavy rainfall could be in excess of 50 millimeters, while some areas of the province could see hail the size of golf balls, or even larger.

If that happens, it could damage property, break windows, dent vehicles, and cause serious injury.

Strong wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour could also happen in some areas, which could damage buildings, down trees and blow larger vehicles off the road.

Officials say that, quote, “When thunder roars, go indoors!”

To report severe weather, Environment Canada encourages residents to send an email to ec.storm.ec@canada.ca, or tweet reports using #ABStorm.
