St. Isidore’s Nadia Lavoie is having success in her first season playing hockey at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Lavoie says she’s been able to make the adjustment to the college game.
“It’s definitely a big step up, a lot faster, a lot bigger, but it’s nothing I can’t take. It’s definitely a big change, but I was up to and I’m doing pretty well I think.”
As for what she’s taking in school, Lavoie says she’s majoring in criminology.
She says she’s been able to manage the balance of doing her school work around her hockey schedule.
“At first it was a little bit hard to manage, you can get pretty busy as a student athlete but the professors in the school are really great at helping us out and not overloading us and knowing the we’re in a difficult position. It’s been really good and pretty easy to adjust once you get it down.”
