  1. Residents in Fort Vermilion will be without power during the day this weekend. A planned Power Outage is happening between 9:00 and 5:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.
    The Outage is due to the new Fiber Optic Project earmarked for the area.

  4. Alberta has announced $35 million over three years in an effort to improve the province’s EMS system, but critics say a move towards privatizing transfers is not the answer.
    The government is also awarding two new contracts to provide transfer services that will help AHS focus on emergency responses and help reduce wait times.
  5. Alberta First Nations are receiving help from Ottawa ahead of the looming wildfire season, but one First Nation is worried it might not be what’s needed.
    The chief of the Little Red River Cree nation says he’s uneasy ahead of this year’s wildfire season. The nation saw nearly 4,000 people evacuated last May.
  6. Robert MacNeil, who created the PBS newscast “The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour” in the 1970s and co-anchored the show for with his late partner, Jim Lehrer, for two decades, died on Friday. He was 93.
