  1. Peace Regional RCMP have one in custody on possession charges. Last Thursday, police were reported of possible stolen property in an area of North Harmon Valley.
    46 year-old Carlamae Evelyn Underwood of Northern Sunrise County was arrested and is due in court in early May.
  2. Slave Lake RCMP have one under arrest on an attempted B&E. On Saturday afternoon, police say a man tried to gain entry to a residence in the town’s Northwest.
    A 30 year-old man was arrested on that, and the 12 outstanding warrants on him from Edmonton. He’s due in court tomorrow.
  3. Councils meet tonight in two locales. In Fairview, finances are being discussed with a delegation from MNP, and decisions on the 2024 budgets.
    In Nampa, Peace Regional RCMP presents information from the fiscal period. As well, High Speed internet is being discussed for the Village.
  4. The recurring theme continues in Fairview, as no doctor is available at the Emergency Department of the Health Complex from now until Friday morning.
    However, elected officials have hinted that doctors have been recruited and could be in town by the summer.

    Grande Prairie-Mackenzie MP Chris Warkentin, wants to see the government try to reward provincial and municipal government for the building of new homes.
  6. The Alberta government is offering a 7.5-per-cent wage increase in the midst of collective bargaining, with government workers calling for a 26-per-cent bump.
    More than 22,000 members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees fall under the negotiations that began this year.
  7. Tim Hortons is following up a two-year flatbread pizza pilot with the launch of cheese, pepperoni, “bacon everything” and chicken Parmesan varieties Wednesday.
    The fast-food chain’s aim was to craft a slate of flatbread pizzas hitting restaurants this week that would satisfy their youngest and oldest customers alike.
  8. Higher gas prices helped the annual inflation rate tick higher in March, but inflation continued to coo, raising the chances of an interest rate cut in June.
    Statistics Canada said Tuesday its consumer price index for March was up 2.9 per cent compared with a year ago, up from a 2.8 per cent year-over-year increase in February.
  9. Six Canadian teams hit the ice in the NHL tonight. Calgary is in Vancouver, Ottawa is in Boston, Detroit is in Montreal, Seattle is in Winnipeg, and Toronto is in Florida.
  10. The Toronto Blue Jays play the second of a three-game set today against the Yankees at Roger’s Center. Yusei Kikuchi starts for the Jays against Carlos Rodon.
  11. The Big Lakes will continue to get snow today, but the Peace and Mackenzie will clear off this afternoon, as we take a look at the forecast.
    Temps will remain in the single digits today, but will slowly warm up, heading into the weekend. Could see mid teens by next week.
