Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit arrest male for serious violent offences
Cadotte Lake, Alta. – On Jan. 13, 2023, High Prairie RCMP attended a residence on Whitefish First Nation after a report was received that a suspect attempted to shoot the victim. After the gun jammed, the victim was assaulted with the firearm. As a result of the investigation, Conway Blake Laboucan (35), a resident of Whitefish First Nation was charged with;
· Assault with a weapon
· Weapons offences (x3)
· Mischief
· Possession of a weapon contrary to order.
On Jan. 20, 2023, Officers of the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit attended Cadotte Lake to support Peace River and High Prairie RCMP locating Conway Laboucan. After a two day investigation officers were successful in arresting Laboucan.
Laboucan has been taken before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded in custody with his next court date set for Feb. 6, 2023, at Peace River Provincial Court.
